The simplest way of selecting random rows from the MySQL database is to use "ORDER BY RAND()" clause in the query. SELECT * FROM `table` ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 0,1; The problem with this method is that it is very slow when your tables contain thousands of records. I was wondering if you knew any workarounds to speed things up?

In my opinion, it's John Lennon. His intellect is just out of this world. His lyrics are thought provoking and have proven to stand the test of time. His lyrical talent has made a bigger impact on the world than any other musician that I can think of. How about you?

Start with Ubuntu, just to be "safe". Then, choose another distro if you are not satisfied with it (personally, I like OpenSuse very much).

Focus on one network...or all?

Facebook and Twitter have become way too crowded. In my opinion, focusing on other social networks can be a good idea. Just take a look at this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_networking_websites Lots of possibilities to get traffic from those less popular social networks. -
Youtube is also a great source of free traffic. If your videos are appealing, your traffic can grow pretty quickly.

Youtube, of course. I alosi like Vimeo but it's just that I'm used to uploading videos on Youtube. Dailymotion is not bad either.

SMF is great for new forums or small communities. If you want to run a big forum with lots of members and traffic, go for paid forums like IPB or vBulletin.

I was initially taken in by all the fuss surrounding the iPad, being called as a 'Laptop Killer'. However, it quickly gone down after I actually used it. I saw what the iPad was capable of and comparing it with a laptop was a far cry! It's in no measure a substitute for a real laptop. How about you??

I was eleven years old when I received my first computer. I think it was for Christmas. The CPU was a Cyrix 166 and the size of the hard drive was < to 1 Gb! What you was first computer?

Hey Tony, I've tried your solution but it didn't help... Anyway, it's not such a big problem as I managed to use my keyboard after restarting the computer. It's just a bit annoying and I hope I'll find out one day what is causing this problem.
