    Greetings

    Welcome to DB.
  2. Tuesday August 28th! http://www.arena.net/blog/announcing-the-guild-wars-2-launch-date Can't wait!
  3. Where is it happening? On which sites?
  4. Yeah, but I'm talking from a schools point of view. College/Uni is different because they're setup more for wireless/portable devices. But in schools, none of our school kids bring their own laptops in. Only the Sixth Form (College) students do, and they're aged between 16-18.
  5. For school you need neither. What you do need is a desktop. Proven technology in schools.
  6. It's a stupid term, as the Internet was supposed to be nothing other than connecting computers together to transmit data. What came next has just been due to the genius of people such as Sir Tim Berners Lee, which has allowed the Internet do evolve into something much more.
  7. Navigating to http://www.bing.com has been returning this error: Ref A: 5e693c3f95aa4401a39c7987b8c8dd19 Ref B: 4685EBF7113D7FAA2DC77B1C091C34A1 Ref C: Wed Jun 27 02:32:25 2012 PST Appears to be a worldwide issue. Edit; Bing appears to be up, but returns the above error when using the search facility. Edit2; Search facility no longer returns an error, but displaying no results. Edit 3; Search facility only returning one result, mostly other Bing pages.
  8. We've had them back with stickers on.
  9. Does it need to be a laptop to play games? I only ask because they're much more expensive in comparison to desktops.
  10. Well I've mentioned before that I work in a 11-18 school. We tried rolling out netbooks to a year 7 group, and the work load was simply too much and we didn't have the funding to hire more people. The kids simply broke the laptops, such as dropping books on them thinking the laptop screen went flat, when it actually didn't. Snapping the hinges off. Rolling over it with a bike. Kicking their bag around with the netbook in. Etc. The repair costs for netbooks isn't too bad, but I can imagine them being awful for tablets, especially enclosed designs.
  11. I meant relative to other generations. It's just a different way of learning. It isn't necessarily going to make him smarter than you or I.
  12. Well, lets take the iPad for example, the applications run sandboxed , therefore you can't put application restrictions on them.
  13. It doesn't make them smarter, it just means they're learning different things. I don't think kids that young should be exposed to that much technology so early in their life.
  14. Laptops. Tablets can't be locked down, and trust me, kids find a way to ruin anything.

    Euro 2012

England out - Lucky we got this far to be honest. Outplayed by a mediocre Italian side.
  16. I have 5 icons on my desktop, and it's been like that for years. Computer User files Internet Browser What ever game I'm playing at the time Recycle Bin
  17. It's possible, but not good. You can defrag an SSD, but doing it several times can kill a drive.
  18. While I understand where you're coming from, laptops will be at a stage where they can do what desktops can do now. I think we can agree to disagree!
  19. Like I said in an earlier post, the reason there are so many services, and why they are turned on automatically is so that things load quicker when called.
  20. Of course. It's an endless cycle of advancements. High end games will always develop with high end technology, which will always be for desktops. Mobile devices including laptops and tablets will always be playing catchup. But as much as a tablet will advance, so will a laptop, and it will start having more uses. Which is why I don't think tablets will replace laptops, altogether.
  21. I had both, but preferred the games on the Megadrive.
  22. I've heard of that site, but can't remember if that's because it was good or bad...
  23. The one which isn't 12pm.
  24. I think it would depend on the questionable post. If said post contained links to dangerous or scam websites, than I'd ban straight away. But if they were trying to promote another website, I would give one warning, and ban after that if they carried on.
