The New Vizio PCs and Notebooks Are Worthy of Apple
CHiLL replied to Nathan's topic in Hardware Discussion
You say that, but I've never heard of them, and I'm tech-savy. Which means that general users won't have, and will take brands such as Apple, Sony, HP, Samsung, etc over it.- 13 replies

It reduces the life of the SSD, because it doesn't handle data the same way that a spinning disc drive does. http://www.micro-isv.asia/2010/12/never-defragment-an-ssd/

Mandrake (now called Mandrive) was the first I used in about 2007. I never liked it much, so I never used it.

Your second part sounds like it's the cause of the issue. The cables that run through the hinges are the screen power/data, as well as WiFi ariel usually. It sounds like you may have damaged one of those cables, maybe the inverter or the LCD screen cable.

I think the problem they have is that they aren't an already established company. So they may find it hard to gain traction.- 13 replies

Went onto some of the other sites...and oh my God...my eyes!

It's a spinning disc, with a large SSD cache I believe.

Using msconfig/CCleaner to remove startup programmes, plus cleaning crap files using CCleaner or defragging (NOT ON A SSD) is probably the best ways to speed up a machine without buying new hardware.

Unfortunately I just can't afford to donate at the moment. But if I were, I'd prefer to have a 'lifetime' thing, rather than just for that month I donated.

What is your monitor size? What size do you wish to get?
CHiLL replied to Ram8349's topic in Hardware Discussion
At home, I have a 22" 1080p widescreen. My laptop is 15.6". My work computer has 2x 19" widescreen monitors. -
That affects all 32-bit operating systems, including Windows 7 (excluding PAE), not just XP.

Even 12GB of RAM is overkill, and by the time a system needs more than 12GB of RAM for normal use, even gaming...then todays technology would already be outdated and useless anyway, requiring you to upgrade again. I built a gaming computer at the end of last year, which cost about £1200. It has 8GB of RAM. Even that is enough to play games on maximum graphics, encode video and browse the web at the same time. Since you've got a high budget for this computer, I would recommend going for an Intel Core i7-2600K processor, and a GeForce GTX580 or better for graphics. Why? Because they basically blow anything that AMD can offer out of the water. Sure, they cost more, and AMD are more 'bang for buck', but if you have the money, which you clearly do, then Intel/Nvidia are the way to go for performance.

It's down to your personal preference, and how you would use it. Do any of your friends have a PS3 or an Xbox 360? If your friends had one and not the other, would you play online with them? Answer that, and that'll tell you which one to get it you want to play with friends online. Do you like any of the exclusives on either console? If so, which console has the more exclusives that you like the look of? Answer that, and that'll tell you which one to get based on exclusives. The main differences include; 1) Different exclusive games 2) You HAVE to to buy Xbox Live Gold if you want to play online with friends. Which is a monthly subscription. The PS3 doesn't have monthly costs to play online, it's free.

That's because it is Linux... Ubuntu is built on Linux Mint is built on Linux Anonymous OS is built on Linux

It isn't a multiplayer game, it's just single player, browser based. It's good for those who want to play Angry Birds, but don't have an Android or iOS device.

Limited write/read speed and poor access speeds can dramatically affect a systems performance.

nice achievement. Here's to many, many more posts!

It isn't annoying as such, just I don't want to have to click it. I just want to extract my files.

Point on 4. Both systems have about the same graphics now. Back during release there was a noticeable difference...but now there isn't.
-
Nice, I hadn't even thought about removing it, but it is annoying!

I've never bothered modding my consoles, I didn't even get my PS2 chipped back in the day. Though I do pirate on the PC, which is effectively the same.

What was the First Programming Language You Learned?
CHiLL replied to Hardison's topic in Programming
Programming languages haven't been a strong point for me, I do struggle with them. But I learnt some HTML/PHP (which aren't really programming languages as such) in school and college. In my current job, I've learnt some VBscript and Visual Basic, but that's about it. -
I thought something was different. I like.
